Admission PolicySacred Heart School accepts students for Pre-Kindergarten and
Kindergarten through eighth grade, Preference is given to children of active
parishioners (or Catholics within parish boundaries) secondly, to Catholic
students outside parish boundaries; third, to non-Catholics.
Sacred heart does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex
or national origin. All students will be expected to attend all Catholic services throughout the
school year regardless of religious affiliation. ProcedureBefore a child may be registered for school, the family must be registered in the Parish. Enrollment of Catholics from other Parishes will be accepted as long as there is space and with the consent of the principal of Sacred Heart School. Enrollment of non-Catholic students will be accepted as long as there is space available. RegistrationFormal registration is held each year during Catholic Schools Week at the beginning of February. All registrants must present birth and/or baptismal certificates, as well as immunization records as required by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (oral polio vaccine, live measles, rubella, and mumps and chicken pox). In the event that the child is from a separated family and living with one parent, custody papers may need to be presented. A child, whose fifth birthday occurs on or before October 15, is eligible for admittance into kindergarten. A screening and evaluation of incoming kindergarten student is held in the spring each year. Students transferring to Sacred Heart School from another school must also present transfer forms and the child’s latest report card at the time of registration. All 7th and 8th grade transfer students will be interviewed before admission. The principal reserves the right to contact the previous school before admission is complete. |
